“since LIFE is short…

and the world is wide the sooner you start exploring it the better.“ - Simon Raven

At Matangi we work with what mother nature has given us - our land is unapologetically raw and rocky, the trails are gnarly and technical.  When you ride at Matangi Station MTB expect the unexpected.

There are 35 trails in our playground that move through the natural lay of the land with epic downhills, giant climbs and just a few obstacles that are all part of the adventure.  There is definitely plenty of wild riding to challenge you and your mates.

Across the 70km trail network the tracks travel around, over and through natural rock features.  Riders who enjoy our backyard ride with flow and movement in readiness for what the terrain offers.  For so long we thought it was just the merinos who liked our landscape – turns out MTB riders love it too!

Trail 28 - Orange Roughy CLOSED

Take time to have a good look at our map - there is a lot of information on it and with 35 trails covering 70kms throughout the 1,500 hectares of working farm land, there is certainly a heap to explore!

Depending on the time of year you will see our flocks in these blocks and that’s normal around here. We ask that you respect that this is their home and leave the mustering to us. We grow world class merino wool and this is because our sheep live a rural, stress-free life.

MATANGI STATION MTB was born from an underground bike scene right here in Alexandra and some local riders have skills that many people only dream of gaining. That’s why you’ll mainly find that the riding is for the more experienced biker although we do have a few trails to get newbies out exploring our hills as well.

Our biking community doesn’t like hearing the rescue chopper flying in knowing someone’s in real trouble. So PLEASE BE CAREFUL exploring our backyard and ALWAYS RIDE WITHIN YOUR LIMITS.
